What We Love About Kansas City CRE in 2014

What We Love About Kansas City CRE in 20142014 is shaping up to be a year where there's a lot to love if you are in the Commercial Real Estate industry in Kansas City. We are in love with this city and this industry and we thought we'd share why for this Valentine's Day themed post.

Intermodal / Logistics
Kansas City's central location has put the city in place as a growing e-commerce hub. Technological advancement and changes in customer expectations has caused a shift in how retailers and e-commerce sites do their business. Kansas City is the largest inland port in North America and has many efficient assets to offer the e-commerce business community. This has made KC a valuable location for those companies that are looking for ideal logistics centers. Learn more in our blog post about KC's logistics.

Construction
Ongoing projects and new project set to break ground during the year make 2014 a year to love for construction opportunities. Kansas City has taken its place as an ideal intermodal transportation area (as mentioned above) and this has created several development opportunities, like the Lenexa Logistics Centre. Block Construction Services (BCS) is also excited about the mixed-use and tenant improvement projects that are also on the docket for 2014 and the years to come. Learn more in this post about 2014 construction opportunities.

Downtown
A blossoming downtown area has also made our list on what we love about commercial real estate in Kansas City. Two long awaited and much anticipated issues have been settled for downtown for the next year, setting the tone for a year to love for downtown development:
  • The GSA's Heartland Regional offices will be relocating 900 employees from the Bannister Federal complex to the Pershing Square office building just east of Union Station.
  • Full approval has been met for the construction of the first hotel since 1985. This 257 room complex will be at 1600 Baltimore with anticipated cost of $46 million.
Read more about these exciting changes in our blog post here.

There's nowhere we'd rather be than here in KC and we are so looking forward to another great year in this city. We love you, KC!
