Kansas City’s construction rebounded in 2012 and activity continued to increase throughout 2013 and will
be rolling full steam ahead into 2014. We are proud that we have been able to work on ground breaking projects that have encouraged an incline in KC area development. The Lenexa Logistics Center and College Crossing are two recent projects that will create additional highlights to the area. The completion of these two developments will add an extra spark for KC construction and development market to showcase in the coming months.

Lenexa Logistics
Center
The Lenexa Logistics Center was acquired by BRES affiliates
Renner 113 Associates and a BRES investment group partnered for Logistics LLC in late May
2013. The 118.5 acre site was sold for $4.6 million, and is projected to be
transformed into a $100 million industrial development located off College
Boulevard and Renner in Lenexa, Kansas. The site has more than 1.6 million square feet
of mid-bulk industrial space available within 10 Class A buildings. The development
will include state of the art features and is speculated to have a few phases
completed by summer 2013. The location’s quick access to Highways is receiving interest
from spectators looking to upgrade their current spaces and is an accomplice in
increasing Kansas City’s logistics hub. Ken
Block noted the importance of Lenexa’s City Council “pro-development attitude”
as they recently approved 10-year incentive that will take on 50 to 60 percent property
tax abatement. The Lenexa Logistics
Center showcases the importance of the intermodal transportation demand in
KC. Read
more about KC’s intermodal transportation demand in the BRES’ blog post.
College Crossing
BRES’s 2004 development of College Crossing Business Park at
1-35 and College Boulevard is in its final phases of Building K. The 66,916 square foot building is expected
to be completed for Spring 2014 occupancy. In the final leasing phases of
Building K, construction will begin on Buildings I & J. The buildings total to 223,958 square feet are
planned to be mixed-use property juggling office, warehouse, and light
industrial parks. College Crossing designers
have created a unique eye catching paint scheme along with tilt up concrete construction
that creates a new outlook for warehouses.
Kansas City’s ideal geographical location offers many
incentives e-commerce, retail and other industries looking for an ideal logistics hub. Area government stimulants continue to encourage
local construction and developments, making Kansas City a great place to be!
