The multifamily industry is booming across the nation. Locally, Block Real Estate Services, (BRES) is especially excited about the multifamily development taking root in Lenexa, Kansas - like WaterCrest at Lenexa City Center.

Desire for Multifamily Communities
Many Baby Boomers are downsizing from their suburban homes to apartments and condos. Though they want to loose the space, they don't want to lose the sense of community. As we discussed in a previous blog post, there is a great opportunity to cater to the needs of this demographic. They want amenities and they are willing to pay for them. Block Multifamily Group (BMG) recognized the need for a multifamily development with the amenities and community desired by the Baby Boomer generation as well as Millennials. This sparked the plans for the WaterCrest at City Center in Lenexa, Kansas.

Lenexa City Center - The Ideal Multifamily Community
As the demand for a live/work/play community increases, more development is occurring in Lenexa to meet this demand - like the Lenexa City Center. The Lenexa City Center buildout is planned to include more than 200,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and more than 400,000 square feet of office space. WaterCrest at City Center
Block Multifamily Group had the desire to create a charming, luxury multifamily community in Lenexa that could neighbor the above mentioned City Center. That desire turned into WaterCrest.  The Lenexa City Council approved plans for this secondary development accompanying City Center in late 2013. Now, the WaterCrest leasing office is officially open and ready for Fall move in. Leasing phone calls are increasing and future tenants are putting down deposits and picking color schemes, layouts, pool and pond views. The penthouses have even already been leased but there will be more coming on the market in the spring of 2015.

The above aerial shot of the development shows some of the great development work done up to this point. We still have progress to make, but are looking forward to welcoming our new WaterCrest tenants in the fall!

  1. This multifamily development in lenexa is a first of its kind in Kansas. It's like building a community where everything is beyond your reach. I can compare the situation of this development with Marina Bay Residences, which will also rise and being develop on a community where everything is just around the corner of your home.
